What is my coin worth?
Choose the country, the value and the year: you get the mintage (number of coins struck), its source, and the rarity tier. No made-up prices: when a sourced price range exists, it is shown with its source; otherwise, we simply tell you what the figures allow you to conclude.
A euro coin is worth its face value in circulation. Do not sell or buy it on the strength of an article saying « this coin is worth €3,000 » alone: check the mintage, its real condition (a coin that has circulated is rarely worth more than its face value) and recent comparable sales.
Understanding the rarity tiers
| Tier | Mintage | What it means |
|---|---|---|
| Common | over 20 million | Found in everyday change. |
| Uncommon | 3 to 20 million | Takes a little patience. |
| Rare | 250,000 to 3 million | Rare in circulation, sought after by collectors. |
| Very rare | 60,000 to 250,000 | Often from coin sets or a small issue. |
| Legendary | under 60,000 | BU/proof sets or micro-states: not to be found in everyday change. |
